Hi,

is it possible to record conversations on a Hipath 3800 with an IVM card? I am not a Hipath expert, but I manage to do the basic config with Manager E. The Hipath is equipped with an IVM card voor voicemail recording and menu driven options. The voicemails are being stored in a wav file and mailed to the Exchange server. That works fine.
Now I am trying to make it also record my calls as well. Ideally at the beginning of a conversation I would push a button on my phone (Optiset E advance) and the Hipath starts recording the conversation (2 way) in a wav file and mail it to me, once the call is over.

How do I do that?

Hello

What version and type IVM card is it, and what is the version of your HiPath 3800?

/Juldal

Hi,

ok, I hope I found the correct information!

It says:
Hipath 3800
Software version HiPath 3000/5000 V6.0
On tab System it says Software version HE620P.11.856

IVM:
The IVM card is mentioned as IVM8 S30122-Q7688-X100
And when I go online I see the following information:
Hardware version: S30122-Q7688-X100-2 B0164.N8.02
Software version: P50038-P103-A1-25 HE300V.04.109

Is this helpful?

I'm sorry, I don't know the 3800, and I don't have the manuals for that.

Is this just for you, or for you to use throughout your company as needed?

The logic behind the question is that depending on what phone set you are using you could snap the recorder module into one of the expansion bays and then connect either a digital recorder or connect it to the MIC port on your PC and use a free software application to record it. Either way you would still get an audio file.

If you need to roll this out to a whole call center or something that solution wouldn't be practical, but it is a possible workaround.

Keep in mind the legality of recording a conversation where you live. I may be wrong, but I believe in the US you need to either tell the caller the call is being recorded at the beginning of the conversation or provide an audible beep during the call.

Hi,

thanks for your reply and concerns. The idea is to record phone calls, between employees for training purposes (different buildings), as well as recording calls for later reviewing (how did the conversation go, what can be improved?)

Of course I can use a voice recorder device and enable the loudspeaker of the phone. But since we have an IVM card which is capable of storing voice mails, I assumed it also supports recording calls as well.

Any thoughts on this?

There is no automatic recording of calls to voicemail on the 3000 system, you will need an external recorder on the lines which use the cdr info to tag the extension and line time and date.

from v5 up you can program a record button on the phone to record to your mailbox, but this has to be pressed by the person for every call.

As dondo1 said, calls can not be used as evidence against the caller unless there is a message or the person calling out tell the caller he/she is being recorded.
also it can not be used in court unless it is recorded by a recognized encrypted recorder that shows if the file has being altered.

He did say in his first message that pressing a button on his phone was OK, but I can't tell him how to program it. I went through the button programming in Manager E for my 150H v1.0 which is supposed to be the immediate precursor to the 3000 series and didn't see a record button on the list of what I could assign. Since we're talking from my v1.0 to the V5 that you bring up that would probably be the obvious reason!

Hi,

ok, I am no expert in Siemens systems and use Manager E for the basic stuff. When I look at the options of my station (flag status), I see an option called "voice recording".

Screenshot:
Will that help me?

Also look for a key that you can program on your phone called Record or something like that. You might need that flag checked and the button. Manager E usually has pretty comprehensive help files so you could look there too.

yes that flag has to be set on each extension to allow it to record.

The button to set is called recording
