I have a succession 1000 system using i2002 & i2004 handsets.
Some users have started reporting poor quality on external calls, so bad they cannot hear what is being said.
The voice keeps cutting out.

Are there any quality settings i can apply or has anyone had a similar problem before ?

there's a lot to learn about qos settings in ld 117, what is you wan bandwidth and have you set voice as a higher pri. then data, is it shared bandwidth. when i've used voip, it was internal, using tdn back to the pstn

JKPeus,

Without giving away any sensitive data, what is the call path the external calls are taking? Think of it as a physical route, including every router and switch in the mix. The cutting in and out could be extensive latency or jitter.

Are all of your switches and routers set up for QoS? Can they all switch/route VLAN traffic properly? Are these calls hitting the WAN?

Do you have any routing/switching issues that might cause routing loops or disparate paths between the external connection and the IP phone?

One other thing to consider, and I think this is what John is referring to, is what is the network look like during calls? Keep in mind QoS ONLY applies when there is contention on the wire.

Lots of questions, but these may help you determine some places to start looking.

Hope this helps,

Scott M.
