Does anybody know of a way to get the MAC address of the NIC on a Call Pilot. Couldn't find the info anywhere on Call Pilot Manager.

lowradiation,
Sorry, I gave you the Subnet. I'm not sure where you could find the MAC address. Maybe if you did an ipconfig/all from a DOS box it may tell you the MAC address of the CP.
Dmac,

Dmac,
The MAC would have to be printed on the circuit board somewhere.. unless Nortel has abandoned the rules. I've never opened a CP up so would regard the operation as risky. After all, they have secret plants where these are made ... a little like Willy Wonka's chocolate factory where little hands put little components in places that you and I need a microscope to even see... :)

Cheers

First off - I'm a phone guy trying to learn this network stuff

installing a Call Pilot 150 - connecting it to a customer's network so that they can administer it themselves

Call Pilot needs a static IP address, so I always get the customer's IT guy to give me one I could use - first time an IT guy has asked me for a MAC address though.

He said he needed it because all of the PC's on his network get the IP address by DHCP and that he would have to input the Call Pilot's MAC address in order to assign it one manually.

I tried using the getmac command from my laptop
I typed: 'getmac /s 192.168.110.10' - didn't work, but I don't know if I was typing it out correctly (first time using the 'getmac' command)

Anyways, I got the MAC address by bringing my router from home (It displays the MAC addresses of all NIC's connected to it), but there should be a better way of getting it, right??

If you reboot the voicemail you can watch the boot up on a terminal connected to the serial port. I am pretty sure the mac shows up in the bootup sequence

If you telnet to the CallPilot root. User name and password is in another post (I can't remember at this time). This is very dangerous spot to be.

Enter the command "ethernet ipr" and the MAC address is returned with other information.

thanx mitelman - it does show up in the boot sequence
