We installed a Call Pilot 150 and have had to replace it three times already. After a while it will not boot up.
It says SYS: access failed to start.
How can we get updates or the software image if the memory card is corrupted?

If anyone can help we would be very thankful.

this may sound stupid but are u sure the card is in correct slot 3 units in a row is kinda rare...what did vendor say...what did nortel say...

ONLY 17 WEEKS TILL SKI SEASON STARTS

The gospel according to ITAS is either the cables need reterminating or that the software card is corrupt.
If the software card is corrupt it should be replaced.
If this is your third unit have you been attempting to reuse the original software cartridge?

I had something like this happen. Did you hookup a serial cable and monitor the bootup with hyperterminal(or the like)? When I did that, it gave me error codes I could give to ITAS. Then it re-booted and did it all over again. I ended up sending the unit in for replacement to Nortel.

Before I did that I personally re-wrote the files onto the PCMCIA card, but that didn't fix it because it was an internal problem.

Check your wiring, I had a tech scrathing his head trying to figure out why the unit wouldn't boot. Turned out a piece of crosswire didn't cut completely and was shorting one of the ports.

there were problems with the bootloader ...changing the software will not solve this problem.

get your vendor to verfify and download/upload the latest bootloader 1.5.21 (note that this is different from the CP version)

does your LED on port A keep blinking after powering up?

I Just had the same problem.

We upgraded the Bootloader and Then the operating software and it came back to life. It was on 2 PCMCIA cards. It took about 30 minuites for the whole procedure

All of the rogramming was saved.

Thanks for all of the input. Does anyone have the bootloader 1.5.21 they could E-mail to me?
I will check the cable terminations also but it seems odd that the system would work for several weeks with no problem if it is a cabling issue.
Thanks again

The incorrect IP address mixed with an incorrect gatekeeper address can also cause an infinite reboot loop.
NARSBARS

CP100 - 1.5 software ( i think)

I am responding to the IP address change. It appears I have done this inadvertently. Call Pilot which was working normally is now in an infinite startup loop.

Is there anyway to interrupt this - I've tried serial connection as well but only get gibberish.

Thanks everyone

Chris
