Call Pilot rls 4.0 Backup Issues

I am trying to initiate a backup to a tape drive on a Call Pilot rls 4.0 voice mail. The Call Pilot connects to a Plexwriter 40/12/40s CD ROM drive and then to a Tandberg tape drive. The Call Pilot is completing 18% and then locking up. It is locking up VM also and they need to reboot VM to start it working again. Can anyone offer some insight into what the problem is in this case?

Your hard disk may have bad blocks. Log into the CallPilot console and check the system event logs for disk errors
