Call pilot - Power supply tolerance 3

Customer had a power outage. They have a generator backup but it takes 10 seconds to kick in.
I believe the generator caused a surge so now the Call pilot power supply is producing 13.8 VDC
Is this high enough to cause issues ( I think it is supposed to be 9V)? Call Pilot has stopped working.
 
Back in the day it was 9, then replaced quickly with 8....so it might be the issue.

There should be a UPS installed regardless of there being a back up generator.

Yeah, that would be high enough to cause some issues. I too agree that you should have a UPS there to tide the Call Pilot over while the generator is starting and stabilizing.
 
Yes CP power supplies are notoriously bad. I have seen a few of the original ones that used the 3 prong PC power cord get so hot the plastic case on the power supply deformed.
