I'm trying to empty out our general delivery box.
and it's no cooperating.

when i try to log into it the voice mail seems to just lock up.

and my feature 983 isn't working either.
even on a normal mailbox that i'd do a feature 981 and i enter in the password it won't work.
for some reason if i enter in an extension 201 + 0000 password it won't login but it will if i use F981.
any ideas?

and how can i easily erase stuff out of general delivery?

well. for example i do F 983 then enter ext. 2490000
but it gives me a Invalid Password.

I just tried turning off the auto login of my phone at my desk.
did a F 981 and manually logged into my general delivery box.
however after loggin in the call pilot locks up and doesn't do anything.

Okay, the System coordinator mailbox typically is 102 so when you log into F983, you would type 1020000. That gets you into programming.

To access the General Delivery box which is Typically 100, you would have to do a F981, get the LOG prompt and enter 100 0000. It will make you change the password.

If your general delivery mailbox is 249, then the password will NOT be 0000. That is the default password. When the mailbox is initialized they have to change it.

Depending on whether you are trying to log into the mailbox 249 or the GD 100 will determine how you will delete all those messages.

I am trying to access the general delivery mailbox.
I tried using F 981. I entered 100 then 0000 as the password.
It prompted me to change the password. I changed it.
after doing that the call pilot just hangs there and every so often the auto attendant keeps telling me that the session is about to expire press # to stay logged in.

I don't know what's going on.
however i think that the mailbox is just filled to capacity when i log into the callpilot via the web interface i see.
there's about 30 mins worth of messages in the general delivery box.

Reboot!!! Just power down, wait a good minute or two, power back up. It will take anywhere from a couple minutes to 20-25 minutes to come back up. But something ain't right somewhere.

See the problem is your cannot just delete the mailbox and recreate it like you could another mailbox that was full of messages. You can only disable the box and that doesn't delete the messages. The only way to delete the messages is ONE by ONE from inside the mailbox.
If you cannot get into the mailbox...... well there's where we have a problem.

right this is my problem.
now i went into the class of service editor and changed an unused cos 15 and made it so that the retention time on the messages 2 days. previous cos was 1 with 14 day retention.
however i'm not sure if it will actually delete the messages that are already stored in the vmail.
and i did reboot the vmail.

any other suggestions?

You could edit that COS too so that it will delete in 1 business day. That way you can check tomorrow afternoon and see if it deleted them all.

Let me know what happens when it comes back up. I'm not so sure that the excess of messages could cause the hanging issues you are having.

Setting the Class of service purge to 2 days emptied out the box enough so that i could get into it.

thanks for the help.

ack almost forgot. feature 983 is now giving me a not allowed message. any ideas?

i got it working now.
for some reason the password to the call pilot changed itself.
i had to reset it now it works.
thanks.

great post, I had to manually delete 365 MB Yesterday
