call pilot key codes

I was upgrading a MICS Ram 02 to a 03, e/w 7.1., PRI lines,2 Call Pilots, 1 with ACD and 300 mailboxes. The other with 170 mailboes. I depowered everything, installed my new cabinet with new Ram. Powered everything back up. The Call pilot with 170 mailboxes defaulted back to factory settings, 20 maiboxes, I lost all keycodes. I was not the original vendor. Nortel has no record of keycodes being purchased for this Call Pilot. Why did it default and what happened to the Key Codes?
 
What release is the Call Pilot that lost mailboxes? It needs to be at least R3.0 to work with a MICS R7.1. Did the new cabinet have the same DN length as the old cabinet before you powered the Call Pilot back on? Sometimes when a previously configured voicemail sees a different DN length weird things can happen.

The cabinet had the same directory # length. The CallPilot is 3.0. The other Call pilot is the same and it did not default. I have had Small Call Pilots default with power surges or failures but have never lost the Key Codes. Have you ever heard of boggess Key Codes? I did not put these in. It was done by another vender. I don't know if they were from Nortel. I have heard there are boggess key codes and if they are in the CallPilot and you lose power it will default and the codes will be gone. Has anyone ever heard of this?
 
When you say that Nortel has no record of the key codes do you mean that somebody has actually tried to retrieve the key codes from the Avaya KRS system using the serial numbers of your failed Call Pilots?
 
Yes it could have been counterfit codes that is why Nortel/Avaya has no record in the KRS. Nortel had a big lawsuit going on somewhere around 05 & 06 just for that issue. There were alot of codes out in the world for all the systems that if lost Nortel showed no records for them.
 
Thanks so much for everyones help. This is what I expected. The original vendor put this Call Pilot in May of 2010. I called him when it defaulted and it lost the codes. He said he didn't have them and if he did he would not provide them to me. I told the customer and the Vendor came up with codes and put them in himself. I assume they are codes provided by Nortel. I would like to know if you kill the power to the Call Pilot will you lose the legitimate codes and if there are false codes in it will it default back to factory settings.
 
If you loose power you should not loose any codes bad or good 9 out of 10 times.

But it could happen....if the codes are good then you can go to Avaya and they will have a history of the codes which you can get and re-enter into your system.

If the codes are bad (and you don't actually have them) then you are out those codes because Avaya will not have a history of them.

I do not have the codes and Nortel/Avaya KRS does not have any record of codes being assigned to this Serial #. The original vendor put some codes back in. Can anyone go to Nortel/Avaya and see if these new codes are legit if I have the serial#?

So it looks like this has never had any additional REAL codes added.
 
Well it sure looks like it. The customer got the original vender to come back and put "codes" in. He wouldn't let me have them. He said he didn't have them. So I guess out of the goodness of his heart he bought enough for 150 mailboxes and didn't charge the customer. I think his cost for real codes would be around $3000. What a nice guy!
