Call Pilot 5.0 Silence Suppression

How do I turn off silence suppression on a CP 5.0?
It is on my IP trunks and my vendor claims it is not. If you make a call to a voice mail box over the IP trunks and cover the mouthpiece the whole time period that you muffle the mouthpiece is cut out.

Is is possible that this is something different? I also have jitter problems although the MOS score repeatedly tests above 4.3. Any suggestions? I am using G711.
