This might be a really simple question but we need help desperately. Our vendor sold us a Norstar 4x8 Compact ICS but neglected to tell us about [ponder]add-on’s (i.e. Voice Mail, Auto Attendant). Our office is in St Thomas and it is not easy to find knowledgeable help.
I purchased a Call Pilot 100, but I am now at a loss on how to connect it to the ICS. Any help that could be given would be appreciated.

the CP 100 is treated like two stations of the CICS phone system. Hook up two ports (useually the last two) to rj-11 jacks and plug this into the two rj-11 jacks on the CP-100

do feature 9 * 1 for the feature codes do next until you run thru the feature codes.

quit

next do feature 9 8 3 and initialize the cp100
PSWD is config

app is voicemail NOT UCD Call Center

bilingual is yes if you want two languages available to the Vmail

primary language is english if you want english etc.

group lists is y if you want to have them available for customers

leading digit is 9 by default (this is for group lists so unless you have stations starting with 9 you should be ok

callpilot UI Y

Primary UI NVM if you want to use the norstar voicemail user interface

system config is OK

it will take about 5 - 10 minutes (book says 3 seconds but I have never seen it)

If voting could really change things, it would be illegal.

the above is in the quick start guide that should be in the box Pgs 12-14

I too was looking for an answer for this exact issue. I know have a better understanding of how I am to interface the CP100 to compact ICS.

To make sure I am 100% clear on the resolve. I'm to use two regular Rj11 telephone cable, one end is to be plugged into the Rj11 ports of the CP100 and the other end is to be plugged the Rj11 ports of the extension Bix block?

Thnx,

You got it

using the last ports is not a requirement but it is a convention that most techs use.

If you have a 2 port Call Pilot, i would only hook up one port.
You say you have a 4X8 CICS, give it the last port. That way depending on how many phones you have, you can add up.

I'd like to thank everyone who responded to my Q!

Interfacing the Call Pilot 100 with the Compact ICS 8x16 was as success.

The final stage of the process is to configure the telephone system so that all inbound calls are first directed to the auto attendant.

I have six 1FL lines (hunting). These lines appear on all 12 sets (this is how it was previously configured). I would like to remove the 1FL lines off all sets and replace them with directory numbers. The receptionist phone would have six DNs, configured to hunt. Receptionist phone would also be equipped with the primary DNs of the remaining 11 sets. The six 1FL lines would then be placed into a line pool and all sets granted access to use its resources.

My dilemma is, how to put this in place? I have an idea and I'm sure with time would figure it out, but if any of you, could lend your assistance or advise as to how best to approach this, I'd greatly appreciate it.

P.s. What is your take on requiring of an access code to place an external call? Currently, they don't dial an access code, but I'd like to implemment this, for I think it's best practice.

Well, it sounds like you need your system completely reprogrammed, and then integrated with the voice mail that you just purchased, and then physically connected with the help of this forum. Calling a vendor is the only rational solution.

That might be the case. I have a pretty good Idea as to how it should be done, so I'll try my luck and report back to you all of my success or, my need to place a call in for assistance. Stay tuned.

This isn't very hard to do, but you must be familiar with both systems to do it. I,m with bkrike, call a vendor who knows Norstar. You can have him show you what he's doing so you can get an idea and take notes or document.
Then you can make any changes on your own.

With winter coming...a trip to St Thomas sounds good!
I could have that all set up in no time.

Hi Guys,

The operation was a success. It was a bit confusing at first, but playing around in the different program loads (trial & error) enabled me to eventually comprehend what needed to be done.

My final task is to configure a DN, for sets to FNA, Hunt, etc... to. Might anyone have an idea as to how I might best proceed?

Cheers :)
