I had purchased a Norstar system with a Call Pilot 100 several years ago and I've had very few problems since. There was some old programming done on the Callpilot that I never cared to fix, items in the CCR Table. Currently, when people call the office, the voice mail says, "Hi, you have reached us, if you know your parties extension, enter it now, for Bob, ext 100, for Sarah, Ext 101, etc. Thank you for calling."

Recently, I've been looking into having a professional voicemail recording company record the voicemail, but as people come and go working for the company, I do not want to have to pay to have this recording done every time that happens. I started searching for how to set up the company directory. I found the following link:

http://www.tek-tips.com/viewthread.cfm?qid=1628312

That thread references pressing # to go to the company directory, but that doesn't work on mine. It references fixing the CCR table which I tried to do but it won't let me delete anything, it says that CLID routing table or greeting table is using the Node so I can't delete it. Under the Greeting Table section and the CLID section, there is nothing there.

Whatever the case, I want to get a professional voicemail recorder that says. "Hi, you have reached us, if you know your parties extension, please enter it now, for a company directory, plus #, thank you for calling."

Any suggestions would be very helpful.

Confused, Do you mean you are looking for a professional but stated you didn't want to pay for one?.

Try logging into F983 then press 4, look for Directory and make sure its ON.

Thank you for your response. To clarify, I want to pay for the professionally recorded message, but I want to do it one time versus having to do it every time we hire someone or someone leaves.

Next, regarding F983 and pressing 4. I didn't know that and I was able to turn on the directory. It works great.

I have a follow up question though, is there a way to make the Company Directory voice recorded? For example, someone calls in and hears the professionally recorded message. "Hi you've reached us, if you know your parties extension please enter it now, press # for the company directory, thank you for calling."

Once they press pound, I would prefer that no one has to try and spell anyone's name. I'd like to have the company directory recorded verbally if possible.

Thanks again!

You may want to set up a CCR tree with an "information" mail box with a specific path - (IE.) "press 3 for individual extention/names and or departments" if you don't want the caller to go thru the directory. You can also set up an info mail box without a ccr tree but the company greeting will need to include the info mailbox number. You can also record the company greeting to include names with extentions depending on how long your list is, but this usually does'nt sound professional to your callers. There are a number of companys that can record a CD for you that can also be used as your indivudal company's information and will play as music on hold.

I can understand you not wanting to pay someone everytime an employee leaves. At some companies this would be every week. I have had customers ask if I could train them to make changes so they don't have to call me back. I will train customers to make me unemployed but you need to understand this is how we make our living. You don't ask your mechanic if he can show you how to change the oil.
I think most companies would be happy to have you pay them for an extra 1/2 hour of training and maybey some documentation. After all, a customer who never calls you back is better than no customer at all.
From what I have seen this is they way many companies are going: They pay for major changes and setup then find the rest of what they need online and save a few dollars doing it themselves.
