Call Pilot 100 Boot Fail

New job and helping out on a VM issue they have.
With Putty and a serial cable I see where the Flash card not initialized.
Figure it has lost its config.
My experience is on a CS1000 that had CP but everything was backed up, this is not the case here.
Do I assume at this point the system is now a boat anchor?

Lets get some details first...
-What does F983 say on the display?
-Do the LED's work?
-Are they steady on , if so which ones?
-Or, do the LED's or serial text keep repeating the cycle?
-Are the RJ11 ports connected to the phone system digital ports?
-Is the Power Supply barely warm or very warm/hot?
-Is the software card seated all the way in , and in the rear slot of the two?

Ok curlycord your post just opened the door for me.
The card was in the front slot rolled it to the back and we are working!
