Is there a way for me to assign a call pickup button on several stations and then add those stations to a pickup group but restrict them to only answering one extension in that group?

What I am trying to accomplish is to have a "main" line that rings to a receptionist but also have a button that the other employees can push to take the calls coming into the main line. Coverage Answer Group won't work because they don't want to mistakenly pick up the calls if they don't specifically intend to. I'd rather not assign bridged appearances because I'm limited on buttons.

Any ideas?

Sounds like a good place to add points of coverage to the main line. When that person is out (lunch sick whatever reason) hit SAC and it goes to the first point of coverage. Then the others can use call pickup.

When is the last time you helped someone, just because you were able to?

Directed Call-Pickup could work also. And it doesn't cost you any buttons. This way they know that they're picking up the correct extension.

My only question would be, can they hear the 'main' line ringing?? Or do you cover it to a bell or something?

Thanks,

We went ahead and just added bridged appearances and turned on per button ring control and set those buttons not to ring. For some reason I thought that with bridged apps if you picked up the phone when the bridged app is ringing that it automatically picked up the line-I found that this was not the case and that they had to select the button first, which is what we wanted. The phones are 9630's so even though we had to add a bunch of appearances it flashes and dispays the ringing line anyway so it wasn't too difficult to train the end users.

Thanks for the suggestions...I'm going to try them both out to see if they help in the future.
