we have a customer with a 3300 4.1 mcd. they absolutely hate the way the call park and park retrieve work. on their old system when they parked a call it went to one of 3 places, 781,782,783 with no indexing (00,01,02,etc.) to retrieve the call from an analog set you went off hook and dialed the number, there was no park retrieve feature code followed by park number then index. the small nortels i put in worked this way also. is there a better way to do it in a 3300?

you could use directed call pickup
create a key system or multicall number with no ringing
you will need to actually have these appearances on one or more phones.
When a call comes in you could now transfer the call to the number. Then announce that there is a call parked/waiting on line xxx.
Person who wants to retrieve call can then dial the directed call pickup FAC plus the extn number to pickup the call.
Make it easier by using a single digit FAC for directed call pickup and then announce call with the prefix FAC.

Not as good as call park as there is no Music on hold but you might be able to do something with that as well via a RAD with a 1 sec blank message call re-routed always to the key appearance. This should trigger MoH and carry on ringing the key silently until it is picked up.

You may also want to up the timers for both recall and ringing.

I usually create phantom extension ##1 and program a call park key with ##1 as the destination so when they park a call on their display it shows 'Call park on ##1 @ 01'

Then I create a system speed dial 1 which dials the call park retrieve access code (*52) and the phantom extension (##1) (system speed dial 1 = *52##1)

To pick up the parked call a user would just have to dial 101 (like a Norstar... except it goes from 101 to 199 then starts back at 101)

thanks, i actually used a 3 rather than a one beings i had some speedcalls and stuff setup starting with a 1, and i didn't want to wait for a timer. this works great

group park can also work well (or has for us)

create a dummy extension (or more)

create group park keys for each

you press group park to park a call on that key (and that key then flashes on every phone that has an appearance of it)

press it when flashing to retrieve the call

no more parking slots etc....

I believe there is a limit of 64 appearance of any group park key

you can park more than one call on a group park key, but as long as you don't park a call on an already flashing group park key you need never know that!
