I have a Partner R7 system with a Panasonic Cordless phone as one of the stations. How can I put a call on hold from the cordless phone and pick it up from a system phone. And, how can I pick up a call on hold from the cordless phone.

go to the faqs at the top of the page , go to the link for avaya download a manual read the section on standard phones

You can do a switchook flash on the cordless to hold a call, but if more than one line is on hold at a system station you won't know which line to pick up.
You can pick up a held call by dialing 6 plus the line number 801, 802, 803... you just have to know what line number, or you could use call park.

Park it - Flash then dial your OWN extension number.

Pick it back up - Dial 6 and the extension number that parked it.

If you have speed dial buttons on the cordless phone and can put flash and pause characters in the speed dial, program and label as park and pickup.
