I have seen mutiple threads listed on paging solutions, unfortunately none is similar to my needs. We are using CCM 4.2 and have a Valcom 2006 control box. Our existing Avaya PBX is currently connected to this and it works fine. However, we are moving everything off of the Avaya PBX since we are moving to Cisco. I have a VG224 in close proximity to this Valcom box and I was hoping that I could trigger a port off this to get the overhead paging to work. Does anyone know if this is possible? In speaking with Valcom they said that if I was using an FXS port, which I beleive that is all the VG224 consist of, that I would need a special adapter from Valcom. However, if I had an FXO port then I would not need the adapter. I am not sure what the difference is between the 2. Any suggestions would be welcomed.

With a pagepal or something similar you can set up your paging from a VG224. They are not that expensive to get. To use FXO interfaces, you can get an adapter that will fit into your router/server, then you just build your routes. An FXO interface will give you two ports to play with.

You need an FXO which is an analog trunk port basically.
An FXS is an analog station port.
The V-2006 requires a trunk port and if you have it connecte to the AVAYA now that is what you are also using currently.
If you want to use an FXS port you will require an adaptor as VALCOM suggested.
