We are experiencing an issue between Call Manager 6.1 and a Siemens Xpressions (4.0) voicemail connected to a Siemens Hicom 300 system.

The CM system has it’s own Unity voicemail while all Hicom 300 users use the Xpressions voicemail system.

The Cisco CM and the Hicom 300 (9006) are tied together via two T1-PRIs using Cornet. Calls between the PSTN and the Hicom 300 or between an IP phone and a Hicom 300 phone get routed through the PRI's using Cornet via Call Manager 6.x & a Cisco 2821 router. (2821 has 4 PRI circuits, two going to PSTN and two going to Hicom 300).

Calls from the PSTN or an IP Phone to any called party number not found on CM are routed to the Hicom 300 using an xxxx call matching pattern.

When a Cisco IP phone user tries to transfer a caller (regardless of where they come from, PSTN, Cisco, or Hicom) to our Xpressions voicemail system the Xpressions greeting does not reset to the beginning of the recording.

For example…

On the Hicom 300
1) PST caller calls (219)555-1212 (a Hicom phone), call is routed to that extension (1212).
2) Ext: 1212 wants to transfer the caller to another persons VM on Xpressions, they hit the TRAN button to initiate the transfer, then dials 3400 (Xpressions VM access number).
3) Transfering party then hears the Xpressions Vm system play “Please dial the extension where you would like to leave the message then press #.
4) Transferring party (Ext: 1212) dials 4496 (another Hicom phone) then presses # to confirm the number.
5) The greeting plays, “Hi you have reached the VM of…..blah blah blah”
6) Ext: 1212 completes the transfer by hanging up.
7) Original PSTN call is next connected to Xpressions.
8) Original PSTN caller hears the greeting played from the beginning (Xpressions restarted the greeting when the transfer was completed).

If an IP Phone acts as the transferring party and then completed the transfer (Step 6) then
Step 7 becomes:

7) Original PSTN call is connected to Xpressions
8) Original PSTN caller hears the greeting from the point the transfer was completed by ext: 1212 (Xpressions does NOT restart the greeting from the beginning)… Caller hears the greeting half way in the middle.

It appears as though Xpressions is looking for a CPD (Calling Party Disconnect, or a Flash, or something to signal Xpressions to restart the greeting from the beginning).

A friend of mine has the same basic setup as we have but is using CM Version 5.x rather then 6.x and does not have this problem. His systems work correctly as given in the first example; in other words the “greeting” gets re-started from the beginning when the transfer is completed.

Cisco TAC says they need to know what the Hicom 300 and thus Xpressions is/are looking for to signal Xpressions to restart the greeting.

Anyone have any thoughts on how to correct this?
