We have a problem with Call Detail Records not being uploaded to the billing server. I've waded through reams of Cisco's documentation but still can' t determine if:-

CDRs are uploaded from the each Subscriber to the Publisher as soon as each has 1 minutes worth of detail has been gathered (the default setting) or:-

The CDRs are uploaded from each subscriber to the Publisher and then on to the billing server during the CDR load schedule specified in CAR (currently defaulted to 00:01 and 05:00 each day)

My thoughts were that the CDR load schedule specified in CAR just grabs the CDR data for the scheduled reports specified in CAR but has no bearing on when the CDR data uploaded to the billing server.

Does anyone have a definitive answer?

TIA

All CDR/CAR records are written on the publisher always.
What is your call accounting software? How does it connect?
ODBC?

Hi Whykap

Thanks for confirming my thoughts about transferring CDRs to the billing server.

The billing software is BTS Phoneware - we have an upgrade to BTS Commsure on the horizon. Call Manager 5.1.2 uses the Informix database engine rather than SQL. The billing server also hosts an FTP server - CDRs are now stored and transferred (via FTP) as flat files between the two. The CDRs look identical to comma delimited CSV files if you grab one and import it into Excel.

I managed to answer the question for myself yesterday evening by setting up the FTP server element of 3CDaemon on my work station and then adding the work stations details to Call Manager as a second billing server. Why I didn't do this earlier - I don't know. The CDRs transferred immediately.

The problem was that we had been incorrectly advised about the directory path to set. They specified an absolute path rather than a relative one which is what caused the CDR transfer to fail. Once I had managed to locate and resolve that, CDRs now transfer directly from the Call Manager.

I did not pay close attention to your header for the thread that mentions the ccm version.
You are correct. No ODBC for 5x and 6x.

Glad you got it working.
