I have a customer that would like all calls in/out recorded .

Im just starting to research this and thought I would see if anyone here had any experiance/ suggstions

its a small ofiice 4 lines avaya partner phone system.

I assume this would be a PC based add on device ?

or is there a small phone system that would offer this

I can have the avaya record a call to voicemial but what he is looking for is long term storage of all calls so if there is a question say of a call that happend jan 12 he could go back and listen .

if the partner system has a CDR/SMDR port/device hook it up to a PC
there are tons of accounting sw, starting from a few 100$ to a few thousands - just do a search on the Internet and find one that'll work with the partner

maybe I wasnt clear Im not looking for smdr data what
I need is a Recording of the actuall call.

so If you say you called me jan 12 and requested I do something I can go back to the conversation and play it for you so you can see that you didnt

the application is a small insurance office and what happens is someone calls and says "how much to add a 2001 mustang to my policy ?" he quotes and never hears back .

two months later there is a incident and the party says "what do you mean Im not insured ,I called on march 15 and added the vehicle" He want so tbe able to prove they didnt add it but where just quoted .

apperently this is becoming a problem for him

I can offer two choices:

1. Vidicode ( vidicode dot com)makes a variety of external call recorders that go in and work. Can store on built-in hard drive or write directly to CD. Need a port for each CO line. Automatically time and date stamps - so retrieval is easy. Will interject a "beep" on the line if desired. Probably $2,600 for a 4-port unit.

2. Avaya's IP Office phone system with Voicemail Pro and new ContactStore feature also does exactly what you're asking for. Advantage is that recordings are "station oriented" rather than "CO line oriented" - which makes finding a particular recording easier. Total cost would probably end up WAY more than the stand-alone unit listed above - but it would do the job nicely.

Good luck
Mike
