First off I deal with mostly small mom and pop places so I have never run into needing call logging or reporting.

I have a customer who does not trust any of his people and wants to get some call data. I have seen you guys talking about different call logging and reporting applications, but is there anything free or inexpensive out there. (I accept that free and inexpensive can be a little doggy)

He wants info from last Friday and as far as I know the logs on the phones themselves is all that would be available with out a third party application in place is this correct? I don't want to tell him no, and be wrong through my own ignorance. He just needs basic call info.

I don't want to get very involved in employer/employee issues, but I have to make a attempt to answer his question. He is very paranoid and does not trust anyone to include my company. Its a strange situation.

Thanks for any info you can provide.

So to add a little more to the question, if I use this free smdr reciver ( ) would the data be buffered on the system and dump when I set it up or does the system only collect and buffer once its set to send to smdr if the system cant reach the service?

Does the system buffer smdr data not matter what and just purge the file if it cant reach a service?

Once you enable the SMDR output on the IPO it will buffer data , but not a great amount (500 records by default)
this is primarily to cop with occasional data outages & the Call logger program should be running permanently.

SMDR output is not enabled by default so your customer has no way of obtaining the information he is requesting for last week.

A Maintenance contract is essential, not a Luxury.
Do things on the cheap & it will cost you dear

Thank you IPGuru for confirming my suspicions. Now I can call and give a honest answer.
