The Merlin Legend & Magix do not offer a Caller ID logging feature per se. If the customer has an Avaya Merlin Messaging, the caller's telephone number will be announced at the start of the message.
You could connect a computer or printer to the SMDR port and capture data that way.
For printers, a basic dot-matrix would suffice as long as it has a serial interface. The Okidata Microline 320 & 321 are the first ones that I can think of.
Capturing the data with a computer would reduce paper consumption. I believe that a basic program like Hyperterm would work. As with the printer, you would need an adapter to connect from the computer to the SMDR port on the processor.
It would probably be easier to have you read the information on SMDR in the Merlin Magix "Feature Reference Guide" rather than trying to type it all out here....
