Our company maninly deals with Partner and IP Office. We acquired a customer that has a Merlin and they have a question.

Can I program a Caller ID Log Button on the phones? Something similar to the Partner's "Log All Calls" button.

Not directly.

The Merlin Legend & Magix do not offer a Caller ID logging feature per se. If the customer has an Avaya Merlin Messaging, the caller's telephone number will be announced at the start of the message.

You could connect a computer or printer to the SMDR port and capture data that way.

Thanks dexman for the response.

Is there any programming needed to set this up? Could you give me a sample of what would be printed and how it would look?

Is there a particular printer that is required and I assume I would need a 355A Adapter to connect the SMDR port to the Printer?

For printers, a basic dot-matrix would suffice as long as it has a serial interface. The Okidata Microline 320 & 321 are the first ones that I can think of.

Capturing the data with a computer would reduce paper consumption. I believe that a basic program like Hyperterm would work. As with the printer, you would need an adapter to connect from the computer to the SMDR port on the processor.

It would probably be easier to have you read the information on SMDR in the Merlin Magix "Feature Reference Guide" rather than trying to type it all out here....

SMDR information begins on page 786. I believe that the settings are 1200 N 8 1, but anyone who knows for sure can chime in. [smile]
