call going to auto attendant and not voicemail

I can't figure this one out. A user has two phones with the same set-up (MARP is not turned on in the switch). Both phones are identical and both phones are programmed to go to voicemail on a ring no answer. He has a mailbox built. His secretary has ONE of the two TNs programmed as a BFS key, and she presses TRANSFER, then this BFS key, to transfer calls to him. calls are sometimes getting the auto attendant instead of his mailbox. is this related to the fact that MARP is not turned on? MARP has never been turned on and this is not a new user, but the problem just started happening. Also, he is the only user having this problem, even though there are many users with two identical phones. I appreciate your suggestions. Thank you.

were u able to recreate the problem?

does it ever happen if you transfer + dial the extension + transfer?

i assume you have a separate VSDN for AA and VM

it's not meridian mail. I'm going to try reaching him via the ext and not the BFS key. thanks for the suggestion

recept. transferred me via the ext. and i got the auto attendant. Should I just turn MARP on and MARP everyone's phone? it's a small office, although I don't see what difference that makes since both phones are identical in programming. thanks.
