call forwarding

Do all norstars allow you to call forward to an external phone (cell phone etc). 8x24 dr5 will not allow my customer to do it. Ans I wanted to ask you folks before I went out there to resolve this issue. She is able to enter the seven digit number but calls coming to the sales girls extension will not forward to her cell phone. Is there something needs to be set in system programming to allow external call forward. Thanks again.

You have to have a software version of 4.1 or higher. The 8x24 is an older system, so i don't think so.

You need to be on MICS 4.1 or higher. The 8x24 did not support external transfer. You could do a redirect back out a different line, but that was not a very clean solution.

The usual solution is to get centrex on that line which will give you the ability to foward outside.

If the reason the sales girl hasn't accepted the call is because she is out of the office and the call went to mail, then why not use outbound transfer from voicemail.
This is supported on NVM 3.0 and up with Norstar 8x24 DR5.1.
Norstar Voice Mail 4.1 is not supported on 8x24.
CallPilot is not supported on 8x24.
The caller would hit the mail greeting and be instructed to dial a 7 to be transferred to her cell phone.
NVM 4.0 also supports hook flash transfers via outbound transfer.

You did not mention if you have voice mail at this customer site.

What about line redirection. It's been along time since I
did this but I think that I have did it on a DR5 8x24.

Problem with line redirection is you are asked "what line to redirect? then it ask's what line to redirect too?".
This is fine if you have 2 private lines but.....you dont!
Works great for me at home heh! snicker! but you probably have equiv lines inbound and a pool for outbound and a call probably arrives at your set via reception or AA.

Best you upgrade that system if external call forward is needed and have them get centrex or similiar type C.O. lines that allow off prem transfer.
