Hi, we just added a remote salesman and we want to set him up on our phone system. Here is the thought.

When the salesman is in his office.the line is forwarded to his Priv #. This can already be done on the phone itself.

However when he is out of the office we would like him to call in to the system.....type in a code and it will forward to the voicemail system.

I am having a hard time finding the information to do it.

Any help?

The easest way is if you have a did number to express messiging have him dial that put in his mailbox number and password. The other way is have him call his number when he gets voice mail dial *81 and put in his information.

We dont have DID. One of the main reasons for this action is so that customers still have a single point of contact.

All we would like him to have the ability to do is change the number the phone is forwarded too. When he is in the office it will forward to 1 555 1212 and when he is out of the office to 7000 (VM)

Can we do this?

You can do this by using a feature called remote call forward. To use this feature off site, however, requires DISA. You probably do not have this software package and would have to purchase it and upgrade your switch - It is also loved by the Hacking world and not recommended.

I would suggest you set up the users phones as a phanton that is dcfw to voice mail. when he comes in the office he would remote call forward the phantom number to wherever he is siting. then before he leaves, he removes forwarding and the calls go to voice mail because of the dcfw.
