I created a button on a twelve button set with a LED. I used F11 11 21. The calls ring to Extension 21 but voice mail does not activate. Why is that? I want to be able to have the user at Extension 11 move to Extension 21 at night and have the user either pick up the calls at his night extension 21 or be able to have callers leave a voice mail message at Extension 21, his night time extension.

Thats the way it works. What voice mail do you have?

Use Call Cover instead of Call Forward - Feature 20 11 21 - the Call will ring at Ext. 11 first, then 21, then cover to 11's mailbox. Use #320 to change the number of cover rings at 11 to 1, so it only rings once at 11 before covering to 20

I programmed it exactly this way. The calls ring once at Extension 11 then ring at Extension 21.

The voice mail box for Extension 21 (covered extension) is not being activated when a call is transferred to Extension 11. It rings at Extension 21 but the call is dumped into Mailbox 11.

I am still failing to grasp the difference between Call Forwarding and Call Cover.

Ultimatily I would like the user at Extension 11 be able to send his incoming calls to Mailbox 21. In this scenario Extension/Mailbox 21 is in an other building of the facility.

Along this same line of discussion--I had a 308 card r3 fail and I was asked to replace it---got a refurbished 308r4 and programmed with what little info I had. I am now being told that they did call forwarding off net via a personal speed dial from one extension--here is the quote from the user
"I have a station--- 17
I have a personal speed dial with the off net number set up 80
so at the station I do feature 11 then feature 80----but the calls dont go."

They said this was working perfectly before. I have been told that you could not do this prior to release 6?????

Any help would be appreciated

Thanks

ACS R6 and R7 are the only ones that offer Remote Call Forward. Perhaps you had a processor marked R3, but had been flash upgraded to R6 to take advantage of the feature?

Hmmmm---that is possible as the customer did ask if they have gone to version 7--How is that process done?

Any Avaya Partner ACS can be flashed up to the R6 level.

The R7 hardware is different than the older revisions so the only way to go to the R7 level is to purchase a new processor.

Let me be sure that I am understanding this from the orginal question.

With Partner 4.0 you cannot call forward or call cover and have the voice mail messages sent to the forwarded or covered voice mail box.

I am using a Partner Mail VS R4.0.

With a R4 you can either forward F11 11-21 but it will never go to voicemail, or you can call cover F20 11-21, it will in your case ring on 11 go to 21 and if not answered go to the voice mail of 11. that's the way it works call forward no voice mail, call cover it will go to the covered ext's voice mail.
And as far as cal forwarding off prem the first ACS to do it was the R6!

Sorry chevyman, crooter jumped in with a different question, which we probably should have directed him to start a different thread. Allisland is correct, that's just the way it works with internal forwarding.

Which voice mail system are you using? If you have Partner Messaging R6 or 7, you could use Auto Copy to send duplicate incoming messages from 11 to 17. Thus, you would use the Call Cover (Feature 20) to send calls from 11 to 17, if they are unanswered they cover to 11's mailbox, but auto copy puts a copy of the incoming message in 17's mailbox. Then you just have to deal with the message still being in 11's mailbox the next day.

Thank you all for the info. You all have been very helpful.
