When it comes to the options for calls that hit a busy set or a set thats not answered there seem to be multiple ways to achieve the same thing.

I wonder if anyone can explain the difference between HUNTING (CLs=HTA) forward on busy (CLS=FBA) forward on no answer (CLS=FNA) and FDN and HUNT parameters etc.

forward on busy and HUNT seem to be the sam thing to me.

I know if CLS=CFTA then there are external and internal versions of hunt etc.

As usual Nortel documentation doesnt seem to enlightening

Normally you would use HUNT XXXX and use CLS HTA. The HTA is class of service that enables HUNT.

I don't use FBA but its Forward Busy Allowed and Hunting takes first priority.

there is not a forward on busy..

hunt is the busy treatment.. (cls hta plus the hunt dest and then lhk x) lhk x lets the station hunt up the key prior to the next treatment..

fna and fdn control forward no answer.. after the rco is met, usually 3 or 4 rings the station follows the fdn..

the other forward option is hard forward, overrides hunt and fdn and it's controlled via a cfw x key and the user..

if i have hta plus hunt 3000 and lhk 2.. key 0 busy, key 1 rings, i don;t answer that line, it rings (beeps) three times and follows the fdn.. not the hunt.. hunt only works if the caller would have gotten a busy..

and you can add call forward by call type and (cfta) and have unique targets for internal and exteranl inbound for both cfa hta.. and add cfxa, to allow call forward external to the mix.. and depending on the route type, those calls can follow internal or exteranl treatment..

i've built switches where external callers NEVER went to mail.. internal callers only.. external callers had to reach a live person, and never got a busy or a recording.. but here at the phone company it's just the opposite (it seems)

There is a Forward on busy and it will take precedence over hunting.

Example, You have key 00 as scr xxxx and key 01 as scr xxxy

CLS = HTA FBA

Hunt is OOOO = voicemail

your LHK (last hunt key is 01)

In this case when scr xxxx is busy the next call will goto scr xxxy on key 01.

However if you define FBA forward on busy and key 00 scr xxxx is busy the call will never hunt to key 01 xxxy.

In short just use HUNT not FBA.

fba is only used for forward busy a DID to the operator and i have never turned it on.. but your right, it was a decent feature back in the day
