I am trying to set up one of my inactive extensions as a forwarding mechanism for a remote user. My intent is to eliminate the need to have a physical phone plugged in, but still be able to use the line as a way to get business calls sent to my remote user. I have a BCM400 with Version 3.7, build 2.4f of the BCM.

Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

Don't use an physical extension, because once the phone is unplugged it will eventually lose the forward programming. Instead, use a Destination Code. Change the DN of the extension you want to use; hint: insure the number you're changing it to doesn't already exist. Now create a ROUTE using whatever pool group you use for external calls with the user's cell number as the dial out. Now create a DESTINATION CODE that matches the extension you want to use, set absorb to the length of the extension and use the ROUTE you programmed earlier. If the user also has a DID that matches the extension, then insure you delete the RCVD DIGITS from the TARGET LINE and also program the trunks with a Remote Access Code that allows those trunks to access themselves.

Once all this is done you can now dial the extension internally. Transfer callers to that extension; and if DIDs are in use, dial the DID and ring the user's cell phone.

I haven't tried dialing from the auto attendant. It's been a few years since I have had to set something up like this.

Hope it helps!!

Curlycord, thank you for responding. I am trying to arrange it so when someone internally dials the extension of one of my remote users (preferrably an inactive line), the call will be forwarded to that remote users cell or house phone. Also, if someone were to dial a direct number associated with that extension that call would be forwarded as well.

DBrewsky, thank you for the info. I am very new to this software and will try to figure out your advice. If I run into a snag, I will repost and ask for more help.
