I have a department that wants to be able to have a caller go to one extension and if that person A is busy or doesn't answer go to a person B. If person B is busy or doesn't answer, they want it to go to person A's voicemail. The problem is, they want the reverse to work as well. If a caller calls the person B, they want it to go to person A if they are busy or don't answer and if person A is busy or doesn't answer, they want it to go to the person B's voicemail.

Any ideas?

I think you can do this by setting FDN and HUNT to person B for the A person's phone and vice versa. So, Person A is 1000 and Person B is 1002 then set Person A FDN/HUNT to 1002 and Person B FDN/HUNT to 1000.
The voicemail it hits should follow the orginally called DN. So a call to 1000 should hit 1000 even though it was forwarded to 1002 via FDN/HUNT.

Usually it is 'easier' to just do a MCR on both phones so that whomever is available can answer and it would flow into a mailbox they could check at a later time.

We also use another method of forwaring to cell phone after four rings. I just send the FDN to a phantom 500 and DCFW that to the cell phone.

Problem is, if you do it both ways, it doesn't ever go to voicemail.

Probably a few ways to approach this. I would create a virtual set with a new dn then put that dn on both A and B's phones. Fdn A and B to the new dn and fdn the virtual set to voicemail. CLS SFA required on the virtual. Also might be best to join the virtual dn to either A or B's voicemail as an extension dn in case they hand it out.

I have a couple users that wanted this as well but they were happier with dnpickup keys because they sat in view of each other so they knew when they needed to grab the other's call.

Right sorry about that - what I should have said was follow the MCR route (build a different extension say 1001) and add to both phones and set FDN and HUNT to voicemail. Otherwise you do have to set either HUNT or FDN to your voicemail extension (you can't have both RNA and busy)

goddajoe nailed it. Tested and works perfectly. Thank you
