Hello,

I tried to do a keyword search on this but most of the forwarding info was geared towards external forwards.

I have the feeling that there is a ridiculously easy answer to this but I am maintaining the phone system with no training.

We had to move 2 employees due to renovations in their area of the office and we forwarded their phones to their temporary seats. Now the walls have been ripped out and phone jacks are no longer available in that room and one girl has been forced to move to yet another location.

How do I forward her phone to her new seat without access to her original phone without making a big production out of it? Isn't there some way to do this easily on the switch?

It would be so helpful to me if you provide the load numbers and the general commands - I am learning but still a novice with this system.

Thank you!!!
Kathleen

I'm sorry, we are on an Option 11C and the phones we are using are 3904's.

Thanks

Three different ways.

print her tn. One of the keys should say key x cfw 4 xxxx(this was the number you originally forwarded too. JUst do a change on that tn when you get to key x cfw 4 xxxx. Put in a new number ex. type key x cfw 4 XXXX (new number). Since that key was already activated typing in the new number will work.

There is also ACD's. You could take there original number of the phone and make it an acd in ld 23 and point it to new number.

Or you can take the same kind of phone and punch it down onto the TN in the switch room and you will have her service and just forward like regular.

Thanks you that makes perfect sense to me.

I know how to print the TN - that is load 20 correct? I have to check my notes but do I use the same load (20) to make the change to the CFW by using the CHG command?

Thanks again, I really appreciate it!

Thanks so much, I will try this out tomorrow when she has to move.

I really appreciate your time!

There's a couple of ways to do this. And given enough time, you'll probably find people will give you a dozen different ways of getting the same result !!

As Nortellian said before, you can make her extension an ACD.
Print out her TN, as you'll probably need her information later, when she moves back into her office.

Out her TN, then in LD 23:
REQ = NEW
TYPE = ACD
ACDN = <old extension number>
Hit enter till you get to..
MAXP = 1
And again till you get to..
NCFW = <new extension number>

Hit enter many times after that..

Or, if the desk she is sitting at has the same type of phone (ie: 3904), simply OUT the new phone, and then MOVE her old TN to the TN of the desk phone she is sitting at.

As ever, play safe and print out the TN's of everything to you OUT or CHG.

I prefer the first method, especially if the user is going to be moving often, as I find it easier to update the NCFW, than to keep a paper trail of OUT'd phones.

Hi,

Just wanted to let you know that changing the key CFW 4 did the trick! I am sure that the other wonderful suggestions would have worked as well, I was just looking for the most simple solution since this was a temporary situation.

Thanks again!
