Call Forward using two lines - work around?

For our outside salesreps we are going to start using direct speedcall forwarding from their DIDs. Since most of their phones sit on their desk unused, and we skip over their VM and send the call direct to cell VM, there is no reason for A) Phone, B) License, or C) VM box.

So I simply removed the users phone extension, and put an entry in the speedcall list for their cell phone number based off the last 4 of their DID. This works great; however, it still keeps both the inbound call and outbound call using two SIP lines per call.

Is there any way to release this call and free up the lines?

Thanks in advance,

Phone Hardware:
Release Level: 4.2 SP2
Active Software Load: 10.2.2.10
Platform CX-II, 512mb of RAM
Mitel 3300 (2 Controllers, 2 locations)
5340, 5330, 5320 Phones (SIP Service via AT&T IP FLEX)

I don't thing so when using SIP trunks.

You can release when using NI-2 PRI - TBCT - Two B-Channel Transfer (Release Link Trunking)

What's most important is that you realise ... There is no spoon.

Not aware of a SIP feature that allows it. PRI can do it if the CO supports it and the 3300 has the license.

I'd tell you a UDP joke but I'm afraid you won't get it. TCP jokes are the best because you always get them.

I would have a word with your SIP provider and see if they can do it on their softswitch. It may be just a signalling thing....

but is it part of the SIP standard because you would need a means of telling the SIP provider to conference these two and drop me and that would mean that type of signalling would have to be part of SIP?

Not that familiar with the standard so I am just asking.

I have inquired to AT&T on this, they are getting back to me. The vendor didn't have a solution. Otherwise, AT&T has potentially offered to forward in the cloud potentially, bypassing the 3300 altogether. That would be nice and a huge savings..well depending on if their is a cost associated with it.

Would think there would be some cost as they would have to filter calls to the particular numbers and send them to a cell phone rather then down the SIP pipe.

AT&T is offering to forward the lines direct, but obviously there is a cost, so that isn't going to work. I think we might just get a few more SIP lines to handle this.

Oh well, it was worth a shot.

Typically most SIP providers I have dealt with offer burst mode i.e you have then provision 10 SIP trunks but if traffic warrants they can bump you to 20 on a temporary basis. You only need to have enough SIP trunk licenses on the 3300 to support the maximum burst trunks and I am sure there is some cost to burst as opposed to just getting the 10 SIP trunks. If your SIP trunks go through an MBG it would also have to have enough licenses for the max burst trunks.
