Call Forward DID to outside number without set

I was tryig to call forward a DID to a outside number without using a set. This number would be permantly forwarded.

This o course in the BCM envirmoent is available because the TARGET LINE provides a field to forward ALl Calls.

I looked around this site but there seems to be varied experiences with different methods.

This is a MICS 7.0 with a PRI.

What is the most reliable method to use?
 
The Line Redirection feature might be what you are looking for.

Once the line is redirected, there is no need for a set or for a line appearance: the system keeps redirecting the calls coming in on the target line. In order to set up the redirection, a set is needed, though.

[ol 1]
[li]Choose a set on which you will set up the redirection. It has to be one with indicators (7208, 7310, 7316 or 7324). It is easier if it has a two-line display (7310, 7316 or 7324).[/li]
[li]In programming, assign the target line to the set.
Terminals & Sets > [Set] > Line Access > Line Assignment > [Target Line]: Appear & Ring or Appear Only.[/li]
[li]In programming, allow the set to use the line redirection feature.
Terminals & Sets > [Set] > Capabilities > Allow Redirect: Yes.[/li]
[li]Press Feature 84 to set up the redirection.
More details on this later.[/li]
[li]Try calling in on the target line to make sure the redirection works properly.[/li]
[li]You can remove the target line from the set.[/li]
[/ol]

When entering the Line Redirection feature, there are basically 3 things to do:

[ol 1]
[li]Choose an outgoing line. With a PRI, it would be an Intercom button.[/li]
[li]Dial the forwarding number.[/li]
[li]Select the line to be redirected. That would be the target line.[/li]
[/ol]

You can refer to the System Coordinator Guide for more details: look for Line Redirection.
 
Ok I will try it again. I used F4 to forward the set then disconneted the set and it only held the forwarding for about 10 mins. then marked the set as out of service. Why is Line Redirection F84 different from F4?

This is how Nortel designed the features.

Call Forward (Feature 4) is set-based. It forwards all the calls that ring on a particular set. The set performs the forwarding. If the set is unplugged, the calls are no longer forwarded.

Line Redirection (Feature 84) is line-based. It forwards all the calls that come in on a particular line. The system performs the forwarding. If the set is unplugged or the line appearance is removed, the calls are still forwarded.
 
Thanks. What happens if the system is powered down or rebooted?
 
If the system is rebooted, Line Redirection remains in effect. It is retained like any other programming (for example, line assignment).

When the system is powered down, it cannot forward calls. The system actually answers the incoming call, makes the outgoing call and connects them together.
 
Thanks! Ok I tried it and it works great. The line was 161 and I UNASSIGNED it from the set it was assigned to which was 2004 and it is still forwarding. Can I for example have lets say a 7324 in the phone room and have several Target lines assigned to this set and redirect each one to a different number?

Follow up. I wanted to be able to make an a DEST code 2004 so that inside the office or is someone called the AA they would be able to be routed out via lest say ROUTE 204 to the cell number. When I tried to create a DEST code 2004 it said invalid. I cahnged the existing DN for that set to 3204 to get it out of the picture but it still would not let me make the DEST code 2004. I have done this before and usualy it is because there is a conflict. DO you have any idea why it is saying invalid?
 
2004 could be used for many things. The easiest way to find out is to press an Intercom button and dial 2004.

[li]If the display reads "Calling X" or "Out of service", 2004 is still used as a DN. When you first changed DN 2004 to DN 3204, you actually have exchanged DN 3204 and DN 2004. Change DN 2004 to something else and try again.[/li]
[li]If the display reads "Invalid number", 2004 is used as the received number for a target line. It could also be used for the DISA DN or the Auto DN. Choose another destination code.[/li]
[li]If it looks like it is calling somewhere, 2004 is used as a destination code. Delete the existing 2004 destination code or choose another destination code.[/li]
[li]Otherwise, check whether the call park prefix, the external access code, the direct-dial digit or a line pool access code begins with 2.[/li]
[/ul]

As for your previous question, you can redirect as many target lines as you want. If you plan to do so, I suggest you document which lines are redirected and where. It will be useful if you later need to make a change or track down a problem.
