Is there a way to restrict a single line Public use telephone on a partner r7 to only 5 minutes at a time? The customer does not want people to just sit there and talk on the phone. The customer just upgraded from an acs r3 and we believe it was a key voice mail system. PC based. Somehow the phone was restricted befor the upgrade but we do not know how. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks. Matt.

I don't know of any way for the Partner ACS to restrict the duration of a call. You can restrict what types of calls go out though.

We do have it restricted to local calls, but the customer is a public library that has a phone that is for local calls only and they would like it to be limited to only 5 minute calls. Some how they had it before where at 5 mins, your would hear a beep, then get disconnected. We were trying to figure out how it is even possible, thinking maybe thier Key Voice voice mail system somehow monitored it, but we don't know how. Does anyone know of any external device that would do the same thing? thanks....matt

Check out
It's disguised as a phone jack and can be programmed for toll restriction (which the Partner already does) and has an inbound/outbound timer with disconnect. The timer can be programmed to kill the call in as little as half a minute all the way up to 49½ minutes.

or if there is a receptionist give her a DSS button for the phone and a disconnect switch , if she sees the light lit for a long time she can bump them off.

or move the phone to the main desk so its not private but available for emergency use

Thank you for the replies. I am going to check out that part and see if it will work for the customer. thanks again to everyone that replies to these posts in the forums.
