Hi,

I am trying to setup a way to transfer a call after 3 rings to another extention. I believe this is call coverage. I have tried enabling Primary, Secondary with no luck. The problem is, the line DOES in fact transfer to the extension programmed but the Caller ID shows the person who the phone call was made to and not the actual caller. Example (Joe wants his phone setup to transfer to Tracy after 3 calls) Tracy receives the transfered call from Joe but the caller ID says something along the lines of "Coverage Joe" and not the phone number that was calling Joe....What needs to be done to set that up

Thanks!

Try this, on Tracy's phone, touch the "Next" button on you MLX series phone. I believe that it is transferring the information but it is second to the coverage information. If that doesn't work you can also program a Caller-ID button on the phone. I may be thinking of a Partner with the Caller-ID button, if I am I'm sorry in advance. But touch the next button, or program an inspect button, but the coverage information is just taking precedance. Good luck.

Tracy has both an inspect button and caller-id button...Does she need to press caller it whever a call is covcered to her? It worked last week and i F'd it up today by mirroring somebody elses phone (by acciden
) to hers from within WIN application for Merlin Magix....Now the calls get covered to her but show up as Covered.Joe....any other ideas as to what it could be? The phone is a 4412D+

Restore the AUTO BACK UP file that was created last Sunday/Monday morning.

Then print all exentsions involved so you will know how to correct/prevent this in the future.

I am trying to do the same as lsd4me.
I am trying to setup a way to transfer a call after 3 rings to another extention.

We have a Merlin Magix Integrated system (I think it is release 2.2) using Lucent 4412D+ phones. We do NOT have a management PC. I have to make changes from the phone sets.

I have almost no experience with phone systems, so I apologize for my ignorance in advance. I do have administrator access to this system but, as I said, very little experience.

Basically, I need to transfer a call after 3 rings to another extention.

Can you help?

Thanks.

Create a "secondary cover" button with immediate ring (default)- on a "blank" button of the phone extention that the first phone will cover to.

tdaugirdas,

Thanks for the response.

I see "Covering Calls Feature" in our little 4412D+ user guide. So, I see how to program "Follow me" and "Forward" but I don't see a "secondary cover" option and I don't know how I would program it to only send to another local after 3 rings.

A more detailed description would be very much appreciated.

Thanks,
Perry

On the second delay extension, program another secondary cover button, and then program it for delayed ring (*36).
At the extension, go into program mode, touch selected button (preferably with led), dial *41 plus extension number, touch enter. On the second extension covering, do same steps, then touch button again and dial *36 to make it dealyed ring. The secondary cover button will flash as soon as the original extension rings, but will delay audible ringing. You may touch this button when it flashes to answer, or wait for it to begin ringing, and then just lift receiver.

At the phone that will provide coverage. Touch menu, programming, press a blank button, press list feature, scroll to coverage, choose secondary, press the extention number of the phone to be covered, press enter - then press home to exit.

If you want to make the secondary cover button delayed ring: press menu, programming, press the new secondary coverage button, press list feature, scroll to Ring Options, press one line, press delayed - then press home to exit.

2BAvoice and tdaugirdas,

Thank you for your posts.

Both methods worked for coverage but tdaugirdas' method only required that I program one phone.

One issue remains, the ring delay is too long. With 2BAVoice's method it rings at the second extension after about for 4 rings. With tdaugirdas' method the delay is longer 5 or 6 rings.

I need to have it ring after 3 rings. Additionaly, it seems to only ring once at the covering extension.

Any further recommendations o n this issue would be appreciated.

Thanks again for your help!

Perry

Switch the button to primary coverage - and then make it delayed ring - as you did for secondary coverage. Use the same button.

You can also program the primary or secondary coverage ring time in system programming - if you need additional adjustments. It is under menu, system programming, start, extentions, cover delay.
