Hi,

Another probably simple question but I just cant find the answer...

I've got a user asking that if they are on a call received through a multicall key appearance they want any subsequent calls to their extension come back with a busy tone... Is this possible? At the back of my mind I've got a feeling it isnt as the user is only busy on the key appearance ext and not their own...?

Cheers

Phil

That is not the function of a Multicall key. As long as one appearance of the Multicall is available, the inbound call will be presented to it according to the type of ring programmed (ie, ring, no ring, delay ring, continuous ring...)

What you can do is change the button types to KeyLine. Only one keyline appearance has to be used for all to appear as busy. Not really much of an option for buttons on the same set, typically this is used for multiple appearances on separate physical sets.

You could try reducing the Call Rerouting/Call Forwarding timer so that the user/caller does not have to listen to lots of rings.

Or you could change the second Multicall to have a ring type of "no ring", again the user doesn't hear ringing, but that won't give a busy tone to the caller.

Another option would be to have the user activate Do Not Disturb while on the first call. This will produce a busy tone as long as Call Rerouting Busy/Call Forwarding Busy is not enabled on the set. Not really a good solution if this user has voicemail. Most users like the call to go to voicemail quickly.

What makes you think that you have time to fix it?

Sorry think you have misunderstood me - lets say we have a multicall of 8888 on ext 7777, if ext 7777 presses the key appearance of 8888 when 8888 is ringing and takes the call then they want 7777 to ring busy if someone rings it....

Does 7777 have any other appearances, say as a multicall? A DN won't ring busy unless ALL appearances of that DN are busy.

I will put it more simply. The Mitel phone system basically sees 8888 and 7777 as separate dialing points, regardless of them occupying the same physical phone. This means even though the physical phone is busy, not all dialing points on that phone will be seen as busy when only one dialing point is busy.

If any key on a phone is idle and set to ring while another separate key is already in use that key will ring as programmed. It will give a single burst of ringing unless programmed to "Ring Cont" in which case it will ring normally (Multiple rings) until answered or routed elsewhere.

Occam's Razor - All things being equal, the simplest solution is the right one.

Thanks paterson, thats what I thought.

7777 is the DN and has only one appearance, but 8888 is a multicall key appearance on about 5 extensions.
