Good question from a customer today which stumped me, if they are on the phone and they get a second call, instaed of going VM, can this be presented to them on another key?

I am from an avaya background and am used to definty/IP office with call appearence keys, what set up can i put in place to replicate this, and are there any pitfalls with doing this on the mitel, because to be honest i think the system is a bag of spanners and there seems to be a downfall to what ever i do on the bloody thing!!!

Now for the moment i have given them a multicall key of they prime dn, but this cant be the only way as the programming involved for a six hundred extension system is immense!

Thanks

One word, Multicall.
There's other ways to do it but all are a major kludge compared to Multicall. In a 600-line system (assume SX2K or 3300 w/CLI access) I could probably do this in about 8 hours, possibly a bit less and once done, it's done. This is billable, right?

From the ESM/GUI probably double that estimate.

If it is a 3300, then program one set to have a multicall of itself and then copy that same button (member) to all the other sets that need a multicall. The beautiful thing is that the copy function is smart enough to realize that you do not want a multicall of the first DN on everyset, but you want a multicall of each set's own Prime DN!!! Won't take more than 30-40 minutes. The biggest problem will be finding a common button to use.

My Biggest problem is that I almost always believe what I tell myself.

Paterson's right, use multicall and the copy keys.

Also, just in case you have DSS/BLF keys, you will need to set the System option to Show busy when set enabled to yes. otherwise the phone won't lamp busy unless both keys are in use.

Another gotcha is directed call pickup does not work on the multicall, only on the prime.

Many thanks guys, no i realise how much i love avaya!!
