Hi Guys
I am running DOS based Tabs and am going to up grade to Windows version shortly. does anybody know if the MD just dumps to the call accounting data to the CA computer or if it is unable to handshake, holds it in a buffer till it can? just I dont want to lose data.
Thanks in advance for help

every LIM has a small buffer for storing smdr-data in case of disturbance. But this buffer (I think) holds not more than the last 100 calls. Not a real help!

Hi!

As far as I know, the SIU (NIU) buffer is very small, but usually the CIL from MD is equipped with some kind of external buffer (CAB-x, AAU etc.). If you don't have it, it could be a clever task have one. There are many different
buffer types on the market, which are able to collect the data from a simple V.24 port, and store it. I have been using a CAB-x buffer (sold by ///), or AAU,which can store about 10Mb. So, this shouldn't be any problem.

Hi,

If it is a BC11 system and your output device is the NIU board there is a very convenient option available and that is the CIL (Call Information Logging) buffer on HDU.

//FICRI

I quote from ALEX:

"The CIL buffer on HDU is an optional feature which stores the output of the CIL data and MIL events on an HDU for retrieval and processing later on. This feature can also be used together with other CIL output devices using the Ethernet or a V.24 port on the NIU output device. Depending on the selected priority of each CIL output device, the CIL data and MIL events can be output using a V.24 port, the Ethernet port on the NIU output device or stored on the HDU. This feature can be used as a primary CIL output device or as a CIL back up device.

This feature, however, cannot be used in conjunction with the call information logging output device using the V.24 interface on the SIU output device.

One advantage of storing the CIL data on the HDU, is that the data can be retrieved later at any time, and there is no need to e.g. dedicate a printer for the CIL print out.

The storing of CIL-data into files on the HDU, is made on the period defined, stating when the output shall be done. The output is made either for every day, every week (every saturday), or every month. A new data file in the CIL-directory on the HDU is created when there is a change in the day, week or month."

Thanks Guys
FICRI it is BC10. Lalrl thanks that confirms what I thought Fcpli thanks I have a WTI buffer box which will hold a couple of days worth of calls. But I want to upgrade to V7 Tabs during the day rather than at night I am going to put another computer in parallel (rx & ground only) at this stage and check for a month the reports if ok swing the buffer box over to the new Computer. Cheers and thanks all

another way is to put another equipment in parallel and then put you can put priorities on both that if one is down for a while the other gets active, in normal cases one remains standby... or you can make it active as well at the same time so the data will flow to both the devices in parallel..
Its the same as CIL but at the end taking the data out from CIL is not requiredand you hahve redundancy for ever as well.
