Calendar Events in Sidekick 95 Under Windows 2000 Don't Work 2

I went and lost my Sidekick 95 CD (it was free on a CD I got with a British publication). All works well with it under Windows 98.

I used Alohabob's "PC Relocator Ultra Edition" to move the app to my Windows 2000 hard disk using the "intermediate device" (CDRW) route.

Everything works, except I cannot load Calendar Event information. If I try to open a calendar I just get prompted for a Username (*.) and I defined "PS" to be that name. Also the Events drop down box is "grayed out". If I delete the "*." entry and click on the USERDATA subdirectory "PS" does appear. If I select that, I get the error message: "C:\DRIVE_R\Skick95\USERDATA\PS. -- User Name does not exist."

I have:

UserID=C:\DRIVE_R\SKICK95\USERDATA\PS

in my PSINIT.SKW file. All six other SKW files are present in USERDATA such as PSEVEN.SKW,PSALAR.SKW, etc.

Any ideas on how I might fix this?

Do I have to patch something in the registry?

Or does this feature just not work under Windows 2000?

I am about to buy an old version of WordPerfect Office 7 just to get Sidekick 95 so any help would be appreciated.

--------------------------------

Somebody had Sidekick 97 up for sale on eBay this morning. By the time I went to bid on it, somebody else had already bought it, so it beats me why Starfish has stopped selling it. Why they don't "sell it off" to another company or put it into the public domain beats me!

Dear edpaulw,
see the Faq area of this forum specifically

faq807-1313

The download site for the SDK98 program is:

ftp://ftp2.starfish.com/pub/sk98/skw98sea.exe
8 and a bit MB download
but definitely worth it

and the year 2000 patch at:

ftp://ftp2.starfish.com/pub/sk98/sk98patch.exe

Install the program and patch (when SDK95 is not running)

and then try to open the calendar in SDK98

See how you get on and if you can open it in SDK98 then there may be something wrong with your program.
At least you won't be stuck completely while you work out what is wrong with SDK95

Have tried to download the Sk98 patch and cannot get it to run once I've unzipped it I double-clicked onto the 'Sidekick.exe file and get an error message "the dynamic link library SFRES.dll could not be found in the path specified..." .

Am I missing something?

Dear arcmasa,
See faq807-2966
and faq807-3000

But for the moment this is from it:

Q25
SDK98 a required DLL file SFRES DLL was not found

Q. When I run Sidekick 98, the message "A required DLL file, SFRES.DLL was not found" appears.
What may be causing this?
A. The "A required DLL file, SFRES.DLL was not found" or "The dynamic link library SFRES.dll could not be found in the specified path" error will occur if you try to launch Sidekick.exe from a folder that is missing other necessary program files.
For example, by default, Sidekick.exe is installed into the Starfish\Sidekick 98\program folder, as are the other program files. Check the Sidekick.exe modified date in Windows Explorer and make sure it is dated 1/5/00 or later.
In addition, if you downloaded and installed Sidekick 98 and then installed the SK98Patch.exe, make sure any shortcuts you may have created point to the new Sidekick 98\program\Sidekick.exe.

HTH
