Calendar control

I'm using the control as part of a reservation system. When the control loads I want dates in the past disabled.
How is this achieved ?

Capture the date selection events and if it is in the past, cancel the event - or reset the selected date to the previous date.

the other option would be to write your own custom control that works like the calendar but you can customize it more. This is somewhat re-inventing the wheel though so try the first option first.
