Calendar Control BackColor Change Not Working

I am using VS2005 on a Windows Vista computer. Using the default MonthCalendar control, I try to set the BackColor to a different color. I try this changing the properties on the form and also programaticlly. Nether case works, there is no change in the default color. If I try this under a Windows XP environment, no problem, colors change just fine. Does anyone know if there is something I need to do under the Vista environment to allow me to change the colors?
