Calculations using text fields in calculations

In my reports i want to use customers responses (text) to certain scenarios to calculate totals and average percentages. i.e. Excellent = 10 , Good = 6 , Average = 3 and Poor = -3. Is this possible or will i have to create some kind of extra table and cross reference that?

I would add a new field to your query. In the "field" I would put something like:

ResponseValue: IIf([customerresponse]="Excellant",10,IIf([customerresponse]="Good",6,IIf([customerresponse]="Average",3,IIf([customerresponse]="Poor",-3,0)))

Then you can use the new field named ResponseValue in your report.
