Hi There:

I know that first answer I will get is check the threads, however I have and can't find what I'm looking for. The problem is when making an invoice with a tax of 6 % the higher the amount before tax the bigger the tax difference.
In my table I have a field for 17.5%,6% and 0% in my report I use the following =Sum([SumofBTW6]*1,06-[SumofBTW6]). with small amounts it works fine but let's say with €3.707,60 I get €182.50 for the parts that have 6% when it should be €182.47. Thanks before hand.

You solution is going to Multiply [SumofBTW6] * 1,06 and then subtract [SumofBTW6] from that. Do you want this instead
=Sum([SumofBTW6] * (1,06 - [SumofBTW6]))

Just a thought

What base math are you using? In 'base 10' I get:

? 0.06 * 3707.60
222.456

? 3707.60 * 1.06 - 3707.60
222.456

Which, while they 'agree' with each other, are more than 1% greater than your example.

Hello:

PaulBricker and MichaelRed, Paul using your method gives the following answer 1.458.198,27-, why I don't know. Michael I don't understand what you mean with "base math". Using the input from my table I made a query within that query I used Sum and in my report used the out come of the query. Thanks for your help anyway.

Paul and Michael:

Seeing that the dealers seems to round off downwards when it comes to taxes, I've decided to use in my report 1.05999 instead of 1.06, this gives me the needed €182.47 instead of the €182.50 that I get with 1.06 with the subtotal of €3041.60. My calculations were correct in the first place. There's no way to reach €182.47 if I use 1.06.
Thanks for your time.

Paul's comment refers to the fact I illustrated. You are adding extra steps to the calculation. Nultiplying the base ammount by 1.06 and then subtracting the "1} returns the same as using 0.06 and omitting the subtraction.

My comment refers to the 'math' itself as, using either method, the result is not 182. but is 222. So I do not understand how you arrive at your answer.

Michael:

I corrected my last statement, the subtotal used for my 6% answer was €3041.60, not the €3.707,60 which was the total. Sorry for the misunderstanding. I now use 1.05999% which gives me the right answer for all invoices. Thanks for your answer and time.
