Calculate network bandwith throughtput

All,

I need to calculate the amount of network load going through a distribution switch(CAT6509). This switch is connecting all the (x16-6506)switches on 8 floors(via gigabit uplinks). Has anyone done this type of calcuation in the past???. I need to analyse traffic and determine if the distribution switch is not being heavily over utilized.

use this command
show top
this will give you the top 10 talkers and the util stats.
