Calculate how many days are between now, and the 31/6/89

The AWK methods will probably be the shortest to use.
However, if you check the following site -
Mo Budlong has a series of Korn shell scripts that parse out the parts of the dates and then performs the calculation to find the difference which will be reported in days.
The ones that you will need are entitled -
ymd2yd
juldif
grgdif
If you use these please include Mo's name some where in the scripts, if for no other reason than because he made life a lot for you.
