is there any way to do this quickly on exchange 2003?

Just to clarify, you want to figure out how much of your email is over 3 years old, or you want to find out how much email you'll have in three years?

well, "quickly" is relative. Without a third party reporting solution, you could run exmerge and set the appropriate date setting. The resulting .pst files would give some indication, but wouldn't be perfect do to duplication/single instancing.

Symantec has a point and run tool but you only get it as part of the Enterprise Vault deployment.
