Hi

Im installing 2003 server and cannot find where to add the cal licence keys. Ive gone to Admin tool ----> Licensing. I want per user licensing. When i click add new licence then i can say how many licenses but there is nothing there to add da keys i have. I have 4 cal keys for 20 users. This is killing me. Could someone please explain where, when, how, etc this licensing **** works. PS i have Terminal service CALs (the came with the server 2003 standard R2) can i use them for normal cals for users to connect to the file server.

Thanks alot everyone
Cheers

Call Microsoft about the second part of your question. They can tell you better than anyone here:
1-800-MICROSOFT

As to the first part: I dont have any licenses installed on my servers, the licensing program wasnt working correctly a while back (dont know if it's been fixed or not) and I just keep the licenses printed out and saved in a binder for the auditors.
Just save the licenses so you know you are in compliance and you shouldnt have any trouble.

There is not anyplace to input licenses in most Microsoft products except Terminal Services. In this regard they 'trust' you to keep compliant. Just put them in a safe spot in the event you need to prove legitimate ownership. The second question is no, those CALs are for connecting to a Terminal Server. The actual connection requires a Server CAL. My understanding is that even with Exchange you need a Windows CAL in addition to your Exchange CALs. Just my understanding.
