Hi
I have just downloaded and tried on my Win 98 PC a password cracker and it has found a number of cached passwords, both for Windows and web sites. Where are these cached passwords stored? Is it the registry or somewhere else? And how can I remove them from the cache?
Thanks

slice, get on over to blackcode.com they can help you

Just checked it out...
Seems like a few possibly decent hackers in there, but the majority of the posts seem to be kiddies trying to learn how to "hack". Out of the 10 posts I just read, almost all of them had some nice flames going on.
[sarcasm]Seems like a great community![/sarcasm]

I'll keep an open mind though, and lurk for a while there, maybe I'm being too hasty.

SgtB, yes there are a few good ones there. They do try and discourage the trojan users there. lol Look for Fallenzen, ewen_g, wassup, redpanda are some of the good ones. I rarely post there, but read a lot

For windows 98 most of your passwords are in the *.pwl files. It has been awhile since i needed to crack a win98 box.

SgtB, checked out your site, looks good. Over at B/C look for the killerwall. Its a firerwall that lets you flood the skiddies back when they scan/try to connect with sub-seven/ netbus :)

crow053, That could be a great way to get booted off your ISP. You spam them back, and they can simply give your ISP a call, then you look like the asshat.

Just remember that portscanning is not illegal, and is allowed by most ISP's. Targetting and attacking someone, however, is not allowed, and your ISP will not be happy.

This is much better for script kiddies: abuse@isp.com

A windows machine with all the hotfixes should fix the issues allowing reading of passwords on most machines though ?

Not tried that before, will give it a go thankyou ;)

I guess at the end of the day local access to a machine gives you total control if you know what you are doing.
