I picked up a DSS for my Legend system, but it did not come with a cable. After looking at the connector, it is not a standard RJ-45. Anybody know where I can but some connectors or cables? If I can get the connectors, will a standard RJ-45 crimp tool work?

I've never seen that particular type of connector except on a DSS, and probably the easiest place to get one iw where you got your DSS. It should have come with one anyhow.

Pepperz, look close on a cable that comes with a new (whatever) DSS. They have a nipple on 1 side. of the plug. Its annoying, but I am pretty sure that a standard RJ45 plug would work.

The answer is, it is a D8AP.

Otherwise known as the BLUE TIPPED cord.

Don't get one too short, they do come in like a 7 or 10 inch length which makes it difficult to connect to the DSS Unit.

Also, the MLX using the DSS must have ALL 4 PAIRS or Aux Power to make it work as well as the D8AP cord.

Anyone have an inexpensive source for the BLUE TIPPED cord? I also have a DSS that didn't come with one...

I usually get things like that from EdgeTelecom.

Their 800 number is: 888-672-6265.

The difference between the D8AP and a standard RJ45 plug is the D8AP has an extra groove by the clip end.....if you have a razor knife or dremel tool, you could rig a standard RJ45. Careful not to cut your fingers.

As Jinx said, I have seen it done with a "DREMEL" or a Razor (Be Careful out there).

It wasn't "Clean" but it did work.

I would just as soon hold out for the "real deal".

Thanx UpstatePaul for yet another source.

Maybe we could put them in a bidding war.

(For a $3.00 cord...???)
