All,
I'm in FL using Brighthouse networks cable modem. I need to connect the CAT 5 cable from the modem to the 3Com SuperStack II Netbuilder Router (model 222). I've tried straight through and crossover cables to both WAN connectors (RS-449 and RS-232) with some adapters I have. The adapters may not be right but I need some help to figure out what cable I should use and I'm pretty sure I should be using the WAN as the input and hook up my switch to the LAN port. I'm not getting any activity lights. I get activity if I use a crossover cable and go to any available port on my 3Com switch. My goal is to use the router as hardwall firewall and more importantly, allow my to hook up multiple computers to my switch.
I really appreciate the help as this has been beating me down for months now. I'm a computer guy but I have very little network experience or training so it's a REALLY steep learning curve to teach myself.
Thanks
TJ
