I am VERY new to networking and I am trying to host a server from my pc, the type of server I am trying to host (Gaming Server) will not work with my Router. So I have had to make a few modifications with my network.

Initially I had 2 PCs both with Windows XP connected through the NetGear router to my Lucent Cellpipe modem..no problems there.

Now My Cellpipe is connecting to an SMC EZ Hub.
The hub connects out to the host PC as well as the NetGear Router.
The NetGear router connects out to the rest of my PCs fine, they are online with no problems.

The problem lies in the Host PC that is connected directly to the Hub, For some reason my connection is not working, in my Network Settings it says the connection is enabled yet I can not ping my modem.

Ive tried connecting directly to the modem with each PC individually and get the same results, Network Connections says it is enabled yet I Cant get out or even ping the modem. Ive been going through it in my head for over a week now and I am thinking there must be some configuration within the modem that isnt allowing it to connect directly to the PC yet It connects fine with the router.....a hammer would probably be the best solution. :(

Any Tips?
