Hi
You must know that CA droping Support: ARCserve 6.61, ARCserve 2000 (version 7) for Windows and all related options and agents

This will be effective December 19th, 2003 or the expiration of your current support contract term, whichever is later.

For more information see the link

What are you going to do?Are you going to upgrade to Arcserve 9.0

regards,
mohamdr

Also be advised that Arcserve 10 was announced at CA World and is projected for a Late Fall 2003 release.

This is probably an issue of compatiblity and not of fixes. A quick look at the updates for these versions point to compatibility problems with updates to other products.

There comes a point when it is just too much work to make an older version compatible with the latest versions of Windows (2003 & .NET), SQL, Exchange and so on. Not to mention all the new tape drives and libraries that also need constant Tape Engine updates to work properly.

Hi DavidMichel,
If you read the drop support letter carefully you will find CA clearly say:
"However we will continue to provide access to any online support documentation and patches via the web"

what understand from this there won't be any new patches released after the mentioned date,if there will be Tape Engine update patch CA will say this clearly in the letter.

regards
mohamdr

NO WAY. This is the first time(job) I've used ARCServ 2000 and the last.

I've used Backup Exec before and will look to migrate to it.

I've done it to all other sites where the support lic has run out and haven't look back.

Sorry but the thing is just too unreliable in my enviroment.
